The Making of

An abaya being inspected in the Atelier Ahad Dubai atelier

Luxury abayas, designed and made in our own Dubai atelier.

Designed here. Made here.

Atelier Ahad does not source finished abayas from wholesale catalogues. Every collection begins with our own designs and is brought to life by our own small team of tailors in Dubai.

Fabrics are selected for their weight, movement and finish. Each abaya is then individually cut, constructed and refined within our atelier.

Shaped around the fabric.

Each design is developed through cutting, pinning and draping. The silhouette is adjusted until the proportions, movement and fall of the fabric feel right.

Our tailors construct every piece in the atelier. The lace, embroidery and decorative details that define the design are then positioned and finished with careful attention.

Details finished by hand.

Embroidery, lace details and beadwork are applied and finished by hand. On Roselle, our most intricate piece, every bead is sewn separately. The beadwork alone requires approximately 27 hours.

This level of work takes time, which is why our most detailed designs can only be produced in small quantities.

Made in small quantities.

Nothing in our collection is purchased as a finished abaya. Every piece is made within our Dubai atelier by our own small team.

We produce intentionally limited quantities so each abaya receives the time its construction and finishing require. This is a level of attention that bulk production cannot offer.
